Greetings Africa Uplifted Family and Friends!
This past year has been challenging but productive for Africa Uplifted. Thanks to your support during our annual fundraising campaign this summer, we have been able to continue our long-standing programs such as:
- Providing maintenance support for the Doris Acton Community Health Center and UMC shools in Manonkoh,
- Serving school lunch every day,
- Providing scholarships for two dozen students aged seventh grade through college, and
- Subsidizing salaries and operational expenses for the schools in Manonkoh and the medical clinics in Manonkoh and Yonibana.
We were finally able to send teams back to Sierra Leone this year! We went ourselves in March. It was great to reconnect with our friends there.
AU board member Randy Oelschlager took a team in June and volunteers Jeff and Julie Kemink led a team in October. The June team worked primarily in the school while the October team conducted medical outreach and made extensive repairs to the bathrooms at the Manonkoh teachers’ quarters.
